Charles Dickens published “A Christmas Carol” in 1843
The year Charles Dicken turned twelve he worked in a factory after his father entered debtors prison. He turned his experience as a child into several topics for his books. Later he became a reporter and then writer of short stories. His stories made him a popular author.
In 1843, Charles Dickens published “A Christmas Carol” about the change of Ebeneezer Scrooge. He wanted the story to be published as a stand-alone book, so he agreed to pay publication costs. The popular book sold out that Christmas and continues to be a popular Christmas story.
