How did I get this job?
Well, it started eleven almost twelve years ago. A man approached me while I stood in a field watching the sunset.
“Parker?” he asked me. I nodded indicating I’d heard him. “I have a proposition for you.”
Well, naturally curious, I asked him what. He told me that he wanted to hire me. This man had served for a dozen years and ready to retire, he had to find his replacement.
His job? Oh, well he had to scare people away.
Yes, just like I do.
Why? I don’t know. No, he didn’t say why when he asked me to take over. I didn’t ask after he told me the pay. The payment was based on the number of people scared away, $100 per person. I scare on average 10 people a day. Yeah, I’ve saved up a tidy sum.
Well, anyway, I agreed. He took me to a room and told me to pick a costume. Then I watched him scare a few people. After that, I took over the job.
Honestly, it’s been fun, but I’m tired and ready to retire. That’s why I’m here. I would like to offer you my job.
No, you don’t have to take it, but I recommend you do. This job is fun and one of the best days to work off penance.
Did I forget the best perks? After the dozen years, we go straight to heaven.
What happens to the money? It goes to the nearest living relative as a behest for whatever they need, schooling, or job stuff. Pretty cool, huh?
Who was the man before me? Oh, he dressed as a killer clown. Me? I’m the Grim Reaper. Bet you never thought the grim reaper was a girl.
You? You can be anyone you want.
