Captain James Cook stumbled over Sandwich Islands in 1778.

James Cook spent most of his life at sea. He started at the bottom of the ranks and worked his way up. Eventually, he joined the Royal Navy and quickly rose in rank. He traveled to many places for England. His last voyage took him to the Sandwich Islands.

In 1776, Cook began his final voyage, where he discovered Hawaii. At first relations among the natives and the crew began friendly but quickly soured. Finally, Cook and his crew left, but his ship fell apart. They sailed back to the islands for repairs, where Cook died. His crew returned him to England.

Through the voyages of Captain James Cook and the places he discovered, the Christian religion spread throughout the world.
