Remember the Alamo!

Alamo

In 1836, General Santa Anna besieged the Alamo.

Texas declared independence from Mexico starting a war in 1835. The war went on for about a year. Then in 1836, General Santa Anna of Mexico started besieging the old mission called Alamo with thousands of men. The mission only contained about 200 men. They sent for help but help would arrive too late.

In March, about 13 days after the siege started, the two sides battled. Thousands of men against 200. The battle lasted over an hour. The entire 200 Texans died. Their deaths helped to inspire other men and bring about the independence of Texas.
