in 1994, the Church of England ordained the first women priests. They ordained 32 women.

King Henry VIII created the Church of England when he broke from the Catholic Church. Mirrored on the Catholic Church the Church of England did not allow women into the priesthood. Then in 1992 the Church of England leadership agreed to allow women as priests. Then in 1994, they ordained 32 women. Though women have entered the priesthood they still have not entered the upper reaches of leadership.
