Jury Returns Guilty Verdict for Derek Chauvin

NPR News tells about “Derek Chauvin Found Guilty Of George Floyd’s Murder“. After ten hours of deliberation and two days, the jury in the Derek Chauvin returned a guilty verdict. They found Chauvin guilty of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. Basically, the jury agreed that Chauvin killed George Floyd unintentionally. They do not think he meant to deliberately kill him, but that his actions caused Floyd’s death.

After going on for nearly a month the jury returned a guilty verdict against Derek Chauvin. George Floyd’s family rejoiced at the verdict, as did many people in the Black Lives Matter movement. The news neglects to say how Chauvin or his family reacted to the news. Sentencing will happen in about eight weeks. The question remains: Did the jury say guilty because of reason or fear?
